How can we as parents and families enhance our children’s educational experience? There are MANY opportunities below.  Please contact the PTSA President, Michele Jacobs, at

michele-24@comcast.net if you are interested in serving as a volunteer on any of the following committees.  You may also visit the PTO Volunteer website at:  www.ptomanager.com to complete a volunteer form.  Once complete, we will approve your form and you will receive a confirmation letter with password to access your volunteer account.  After completion please make sure you leave a copy of your drivers license at the school office so that we can include you in our events!

Thank you in advance for your time!

 Community & School Support

ASB Representative(s): Partnership with ASB (Assembly of Students) to provide support with their activities. This would be ongoing throughout the school year along with guidance from 5th grade teachers. We hope to encourage more student involvement with newsletter and PTSA activities.

Beautification Project: Fancy way of saying our school needs a face lift! We are not getting a new school any time soon, so we want to implement some changes that will bring color and art and a modern feel to the school. This will be a committee and the time it takes is based solely on what time you have to give.

Classroom Parent(s): Work with your child's teacher to help in the classroom. This can include assisting with class room parties, field trips, and working with children on reading, writing, spelling, etc. Room Parent Coordinator will provide support & guidelines.

Dr. Seuss Day: This is a one day event at the end of February which coincides with Read Across America Day and celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday. Students and teachers dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. The PTSA distributes popcorn and lends it’s support to teachers.

Hospitality: Have ideas on how to make our school, events and meetings friendlier? Then we have a committee for you. The Baker’s Brigade provides throughout the school year baked goods for specific events such as PTSA meetings, staff appreciation, etc. It is a great way to support your school and teachers from home.  Teacher Appreciation provides support for Staff Appreciation events during the Spring.  We are always looking for creative and fun ways to show the staff how much we value their efforts and dedication to our children. Childcare provides support during our general meeting held three times a year. It’s a great way for older sibling to help support their old school and get those community service hours.

Legislative Representative(s): Stay informed with Washington State legislative platform for the current year.  Our representative(s) stays in touch with issues affecting our children.  Through this representative, we have the opportunity to tell local and state representatives what matters to us.

Library: Provide support for Librarian. Opportunity to work with students during school hours such as  checking books in/out during class time, helping with and displaying students projects, re-shelving books. This is also a great opportunity for at home activities such as covering books.

Music:  Support for music teacher. Creating backdrops for music programs, Pinetone Parent(s) to help with performances outside of school, and Instrument demonstrations.

Parent Advisory Committee Representative(s) PAC : We have a Ponderosa representative(s) along with other schools in CV district. The PAC meets monthly with CVSD Superintendent to receive updates about district issues and initiatives and provide input to district administration from a parental perspective.

School Supplies: Parent Relief! We organize & distribute most of school supplies needed for each grade level.  Materials paid for by PTSA fundraising events. Organized during the summer.
